Program Staff

Lauren Hill, NBCT - Program Director: Lauren (she/her) taught middle school ELA at Leestown Middle School in Lexington, KY. She has also taught high school and in a correctional setting, served as an instructional coach, and worked as the Teacher Leadership Coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Education. Lauren also serves as Associate Director of the University of Kentucky - Jewish Heritage Fund Holocaust Initiative, which supports Kentucky teachers in meeting the mandate for effective Holocaust education. Lauren graduated from Barnard College with a BA in History, Vanderbilt University with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Supervision, and The University of Kentucky with a Rank 1 in English Education. Lauren focuses on elevating teachers as experts and leaders who facilitate deeper learning for their students.

Caitlin McClure, NBCT - Coach. Caitlin is the Academic Instructional Coach at the Marion C. Moore School in Louisville, Kentucky. Caitlin has ten years of prior teaching experience in 10th and 11th grade ELA, as well as AP Language and Composition. She earned her Ed.S. from the University of Louisville in 2017, is an alum of the Louisville Writing Project XXXI, and a 2018 CTEPS graduate. Carly Baldwin, NBCT - Coach: Carly teaches Chemistry at Boyd County High School. She also worked as an Effectiveness Coach for KDE, supporting Instructional Transformation districts. She was a KY Hope Street Fellow and a CTEPS alum. She has published articles describing her teacher leadership journey in Kentucky Teacher. Carly is a proud 2015 PAEMST winner. Noah Klein - Coach: Noah began teaching in 2009 with the Jefferson County Public Schools district and is now an instructional coach at The Academy at Shawnee. Noah earned his B.S. in Secondary Language Arts Education at Miami University of Ohio and his M.Ed at Western Governors University in Instructional Design, Learning, and Technology. Meka Wilhoit Barry, PhD - Coach: Meka is a Reading Specialist in Louisville, Kentucky. She has twelve years of teaching experience. Meka also serves as an consultant for LearnZillion and Instruction Partners. She advocates for early childhood education and is a 2016-17 CTEPS Graduate. Read her recent work in the Hechinger Report. Brian McDowell, NBCT - Coach: Brian is a STEM and Project Lead the Way teacher for Mason County Middle School. He has received the KSTA Middle School Teacher of the Year, NSTA Inquiry Based Teaching Award, Presidential Award Finalist, and has been awarded over $70,000 in grants over the past 8 years.
